Born and raised in Brescia, Mariapaola graduated in Media Languages from the Faculty of Literature and Philosophy at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Milan, thinking of one day becoming a journalist. After a stint as an editor for a publishing house, she decided to leave for London, where, inspired by the city’s creative and vibrant climate, she took courses in Graphic Design and Art Direction at the University of the Arts – Central Saint Martins. A few years later, Covid’s accomplice, she put everything back on the table and decided to study Illustration for Publishing at Mimaster in Milan, thus beginning to think of drawing no longer just as a marginal passion, but as a real profession. Today she is a freelance illustrator, she loves experimenting with digital technique, combining it with the traditional one, taking inspiration from printing techniques, from risograph to screen printing.
